You say you want to be free. You even know what freedom for you looks like. But you just don’t have the conviction necessary to stay the course. In order to experience the freedom to live life unapologetically, you have to make a decision that you are tired of your humdrum existence. With awareness comes possibilities and the realization that you must be committed to your freedom. Like anything else, where energy goes, energy grows!
You can’t be caught up in the New Years Eve Syndrome. Remember how excited and fired up you were about your resolutions? Whether it be losing weight, quitting smoking or going back to school to finish that degree you’ve been putting off for the last ten years. And while these are worthwhile goals, I ask you this question, “Have you ever thought about commiting to your freedom?’ In other words, do you have some dreams and desires that require you to have a certain level of flexibility in your life for them to manifest? If so, you must find a way to stay committed to your commitment.
See, it’s easy to make a commitment. We can say anything. It’s the action behind the words that make all the difference in the world. If there is no action, we fall off the wagon! In other words, we say what we want to do, but we don’t stick to it. What creates this phenomenon?
I personally feel that it is a two fold answer. First, keep in mind that most of us do things because it is expected of us and we want to go with the flow. Very few people DON’T make a New Year’s Eve Resolution. If you take a random survey of people the first week of January, most of them say they are going to make major changes in their life, but they rarely do. They are just caught up in the rapture of New Year’s Eve frenzy!
Second, we realize how challenging sticking to a commitment is. When the dust finally settles, we see all of the obstacles to following through and none of the rewards. We slip back into old patterns and behaviors and before you know it, we are throwing in the towel. The effort and discipline becomes too much and your Keto Diet turns into a Whopper with cheese and a large fry!
But all hope isn’t lost! If you are willing to open your mind, you can get back on track and experience freedom like never before by using your imagination. Your imagination is your admittance ticket to the wonderful world of freedom. If you can see it, you can be it. The problem is that while many can see it, it’s the being it that creates a huge problem! You know why? Because you have to step out of your comfort zone in order to make your imagination come to life.
So how do you do that? Connect with your WHY. Why do you want to be free? How would being free change your life? What has your lack of freedom cost you? What are
some ways that you can hold yourself accountable? Who are some cheerleaders you can call on to keep you focused?
By zeroing in on your WHY, you will find it easier to stay committed to your freedom! Keep your WHY’S close to your heart. Say them out loud in the morning when you wake up, throughout the day and when you go to bed at night. Then watch your life change right before your eyes…
